Transportation:

In Suzhou, the metro is very traveler-friendly, reaching almost all the scenic destinations.

One of the benefits of living in Suzhou is that, it can get you to Shanghai very quickly. By taking the high-speed train, one can arrive at Shanghai within 20 minutes. It is entirely up to you to enjoy either the traditional village or the international skyscrapers.

Tips:

You might want to download two apps: Wechat and Alipay, both of which are amazingly widely used in China, the former one mostly for communication, even in the workplace, (and payment) and the latter one for payment. Besides, you need a bank account to actually valid the payment process, which you will understand after arriving in China. Both will help you pay for things when you don’t have cash or when you card is not accepted. Nowadays, almost all young people use wechat or alipay for buying stuff.

A short video about Suzhou is attached below, inside which the bird-view of the Industrial Park, Dushu Lake, and Jinji Lake (the most recently developed), 3 districts in Suzhou, is presented, shot by one of SIA faculty with his drone in 2015.
